Perspectives from White & Case

Wednesday 04. July 2012 - As a truly global law firm, White & Case wanted to provide readers with a multiplicity of Firm vantage points to demonstrate not only their achievements in 2011, but also their wide range of capabilities, their global presence and their thought leadership worldwide. The theme "Perspectives" gave them a flexible visual and content platform to facilitate this goal, allowing both broad and focused approaches to imagery and editorial content.

The biggest challenge in creating the Review was selecting what perspectives to present. The selection process entailed extensive discussions with Global Practice Leaders and other Firm lawyers as well as gathering and distilling a wide range of information on industry trends and worldwide legal and business developments.
The Annual Review is illustrated with striking two-page photo spreads of key cities where White & Case has offices. Inset in a circle within each two-page spread is a photo tightly focused on an image from that city taken by a Firm employee. The inset photos provide a highly personal visual perspective that contrasts with the broader perspective of the two-page.
Play-on-word headlines draw readers into the editorial content. The Q&A format of the longer pieces makes them easy to digest, and the shorter pieces provide variety and bolster the development of the “Perspectives” theme. The uncluttered and clean look of the Annual Review aids readability and readers’ comprehension of the content.
The Annual Review is presented together with the Social Responsibility Review. To coordinate that presentation and make it special, the Annual Review was created in grey and the Social Responsibility Annual in a complementary beige with a matching bellyband that wrapped the two brochures together in a neat and convenient package.
“The Strathmore soft gray wove text inspired us and sealed the deal on the “greige” concept we were trying to achieve for our annuals,” stated Robin Colangelo, Global Director of Creative Services for White & Case. “We then collaborated with our Mohawk rep and printer to achieve the perfect gray and beige covers, also inspired by colors found in the Strathmore swatch book.”
