33,333 register mark sensors convince also the manufacturers of automation technology

Wednesday 16. May 2012 - The success story of eltromat GmbH started in 1960 with the world's first register control system for gravure printing machines. In March, five decades and several product generations later, the register mark sensor no. 33,333 left the factory of the manufacturer of innovative systems for optimisation of printing processes.

ìThe current sensor RSH is the world’s leading sensor and heart of our most successful register control solution regi_star 20. But also significant manufacturers of automation equipment such as Siemens AG in Erlangen/Germany rely on our established sensorsî says the responsible Product Manager, Volker Reinholdt.
As a solution provider it is important for Siemens to complement its range of drive technology for the printing industry with appropriate sensors, since many of their customers want to implement their own register control.
ìSiemens had already register mark sensors in the portfolio, but we were still missing a suitable solution for high-end applications. According to a market research and detailed field tests we chose the register mark sensor of the regi_star 20 by eltromat.î says Lothar Rettner, Siemens Marketing Engineer îAutomation of printing machinesî.
Convincing sensor performance
In particular the register mark sensor of the regi_star 20 has convinced the specialists at Siemens. It detects even extremely low-contrast and metalized colours and transparent varnish. The register mark sensor developed as a 1-pixel camera analyses the colour spectrum of the light reflected from the web and automatically detects all types of register marks.
Reduce waste by turnkey solutions
In addition to this new component business, eltromat as a specialist in this field also continues implementing whole register control systems in new machine or retrofit projects. Along with the sensor, the integrated single head measurement with automatic shift between sequential and key colour control allows for a significant waste saving potential. Whereas the sequential control safes waste during machine start-up, the key colour control provides the necessary register accuracy during the printing process.
