Preses Nams signs up for a 16-page Komori web at drupa
Tuesday 15. May 2012 - Latvia's Preses Nams Baltic Ltd signed up for a 16-page Komori System 38S on the Komori stand at drupa.
The press runs at 60,000 sheets per hour and carries all the latest Komori automation, including the KHS-AI Link and Smart Sequence quick job changover systems, fully automatic plate changing, fully automated folder changeover, and the Komori splicer which features an environmentally friendly regenerative motor system.
Preses Nams, located close to the Latvia’s capital Riga, and has expanded its market into Russia, Scandinavia and The Netherlands. It specialises in the production of hard and soft books, but also handles a growing volume of commercial work including magazines. In December 2010, it installed its first Komori, a Lithrone S 840 Perfector.
Says CEO and technical director, Anatoly Makhlov: “What really impressed us with the Lithrone S 840 Perfector, and what strongly influenced our decision to follow up with a Komori web, was its exceptional output levels, which we were able to attain right from the start of production. For example, in its first four months, it had delivered eleven million impressions. In truth, in under eighteen months it has taken us into new markets with its high print quality, fast turnround capabilities and trade mark Komori reliability.”
“Over the last year, business has increased to such an extent that we have needed to occasionally send work out, and the quality that came back from Komori web houses in Europe impressed us immensely. That prompted us to look more closely at Komori web installations, in particular at web houses in the USA and the Ukraine.
“We concentrated on what the System 38S web could offer us in quick job changeover, low waste, and high quality print. We also required higher speed in order to produce longer runs, when required, which the system 38 can accommodate efficiently.”
