digi:media 2011 – the Hub for the Publishing Industry

Tuesday 08. February 2011 - Central Industry Issues in Focus: Print - Web - Mobile

With digi:media, the new specialist fair for digital printing & commercial publishing from 7 to 9 April 2011, Messe Düsseldorf has obviously struck a chord. Underlining the importance of Düsseldorf’s new trade fair, Ralph Scholz, Account Manager at Messe Düsseldorf, said at the trade press roundtable on 3 February: “9 cooperations with associations, industry initiatives and publishers, just under 15 trade events and 130 exhibitors ensure that digi:media will be the most important event for print-based, cross-media communication in Germany this year.”
The central topics at digi:media cover just about every aspect concerning the publishing and communication industries at present: the ranking of print in the mix of different media channels, cross-media linked communication, sustainable media production, digital product innovations at publishers or the role of social media as part of communication. Needless to say, digi:media covers the entire digital value chain (print – web – mobile) both with its agenda and the exhibitors’ ranges.
Exhibitors at the digi:media debut event so far include global players in digital printing like Hewlett Packard, Hunkeler Deutschland GmbH, Ricoh, Xeikon and Xerox as well as Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG and manroland AG, print finishing icons like FKS, Horizon GmbH, Koerber PaperLink GmbH, Kolbus GmbH & Co. KG, Müller-Martini AG, Pitney Bowes Deutschland GmbH and Polar Mohr plus the complete line-up of software and/or workflow providers for the publishing industry including Censhare AG, CGS Publishing Technologies, Dalim Software AG, Diron GmbH & Co. KG, Direct Smile GmbH, Esko Graphics, infowerk ag, Kinetik GmbH, Neo 7Even GmbH, One Vision Software AG and Xanté Europe. Even the paper industry is represented with Fedrigoni, m-real and mondi. The constantly extended list of exhibitors as well as hall maps and the specialist side events can be found at www.digimedia.de. Nine themed “worlds” map the media product flow segment in the exhibition halls, thereby easing orientation for visitors.
The infotainment programme in the hall also forms part and parcel of the trade fair. 19 associations, publishing houses and industry initiatives from the entire communication and publishing sector are making a statement for the future of the industry with their events. The programme comprising just under 15 congresses, conferences, workshops, panel discussions, awards, network meetings, theme parks and special shows is highly topical and offers print service providers, advertising and creative agencies, marketeers, print buyers and publishers very interesting content. “The conceptual involvement of target visitor groups in digi:media was a particular concern to us,” said Ralph Scholz stressing this strategic approach at the press roundtable and went on to say: “To this end we have deliberately “attached” existing Community events to digi:media to prompt these Communities to enter into a multi-disciplinary exchange. digi:media links these different Communities with each other serving as the connective element.”
Held in Hall 6 of Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre, digi:media will be open from 7 to 9 April, daily from 10.00 am to 6.00 pm. Tickets cost EUR 49.00 when purchased on site while ten euros less at EUR 39.00 when purchased online. digi:media is designed as an annual event forming an integral part of drupa in 2012 to finally take up its annual cycle in 2013 (11 to 13 April).
