How to Print Accurate Spot Colours?

Monday 06. September 2010 - Bodoni Systems Release pressSIGN 4 with PANTONE Libraries

Printers can now be sure they are hitting the Pantone Colors their clients demand with the latest version of pressSIGN.

Printing special colours often causes more problems for the printer than standard 4 colour process printing. Customers care more about the company logo colour or the special Pantone they selected. Frequently, however, printer and client and are looking at different editions of the Pantone guide or the conditions under which the guides have been kept has effected the colour appearance.

The printer is relies on the ink manufacturer to deliver an accurate Pantone mix frequently without knowing the paper stock. All these issues make spot colour printing another headache for the printer.

pressSIGN v 4 makes printing accurately to spot colours easy. Just select the Pantone colour or colours and measure the colour bar with pressSIGN. pressSIGN will show the operator how to adjust the ink keys to get the closest match to both the CMYK colours as well as the 5th or 6th colour.

“Pantone is enthusiastic about the launch of pressSIGN 4 and its contribution to standards for commercial printing.” says Andy Hatkoff, Pantone’s Vice President of Technology Licensing. “pressSIGN’S support for PANTONE Color libraries enables printers around the world to print both CMYK and PANTONE colors with a high degree of confidence.”

pressSIGN 4 contains all the standard PANTONE libraries. Chose from the traditional PMS , Goe or the new PANTONE Plus series. Users can create their own libraries by measuring a swatch, typing in a lab value or importing a colour definition file.

“pressSIGN 4 is another advance in helping printers meet the expectations of their customers”, according to Ian Reid Bodoni Systems Marketing Director. “The requirement to print accurate spot colours is as important as the need for consistenly accurate process work. pressSIGN 4 is the most advanced solution in achieving this.”

pressSIGN 4 is part of a multi-user, multi-tasking database able to connect PCs and Mac and the Web. From the production office to the pressroom to pressSIGN OnLine jobs can be set up, measured and published in one seemless workflow.

pressSIGN 4 gives the printer more control and keeps the customer informed.
