A UK 1st for Royal & Derngate theatre and Munken Rough
Friday 02. July 2010 - Arctic Paper Munken Rough grade was selected by Northamptons Royal & Derngate theatre for its 125th commemorative programme.
Printed by Portland Print in Kettering, the brochure represented a culmination of a year long celebration for the 125th birthday year and was the first commercial job produced in the UK on the new Arctic grade.
Guests to the theatre where invited to a gala dinner where they received their own copy of the prestigious programme complete with an 8pp wrap round cover which included details of the evenings events. The programme and cover were both printed onto New Munken Lynx Rough from Arctic Paper. Munken Rough was launched in May this year and represents a major new addition to the print and design market. Munken Polar Rough, Munken Lynx Rough and Munken Pure Rough all come in three shades and have a unique rough, toothy surface which provided exceptional high quality four-colour printing.
Martin Allibone, Sales Manager for Portland Print explained why the paper choice was essential “This unique grade has a distinctive natural and bulky paper feel which was perfect for the retro design of the programme. The contents contained line, black and white and full colour images plus text and needed a surface which would provide bright vibrant results and a tactile feel of quality, prestige and the illusion of longevity.”
650 of the prestigious brochures were printed on a multi-colour Heidelberg Perfector Press which was printed and finished within 5 working days.

The Munken Design Range now comes in six different variations; in three shades and with two surfaces.
Munken’s new, rough surfaces have the best possible printability and colour reproduction with a unique paper feel and bulk.
They are available as FSC or PEFC certified.
