Quantum Leap in Efficiency Thanks to State-of-the-Art Production Systems

Thursday 03. June 2010 - Together with the new Primera E140 saddle stitcher, Comprinta AG in Zurich-Schwerzenbach, Switzerland has also commissioned the Connex digital workflow system from Muller Martini. "Connex is an important addition to our range of automation solutions and helps us to optimize our processes", says Daniel Schnyder, Managing Director of Comprinta.

Comprinta was founded on the January 1, 2010 as the joint printing center for the sustainable media production of the four partners, Neidhart + Schön Group, Druckerei Feldegg, Bühler-Druck and Kalt-Bucher Druck (the latter joined on 1 April 2010) and focuses mainly on high-quality offset printing and print finishing. According to Dr. Joëlle Loos, Head of Marketing and Communication at Comprinta AG, “the four partner companies, that are all renowned for fulfilling the highest quality requirements, combine their individual production capacities, expertise and respective strengths under one roof.” Together, we provide optimum prerequisites for our customers. Thanks to our skilled experts, we are able to offer the best possible service and level of flexibility at competitive prices in permanent shift operation using one of the most modern machine line-ups in the Swiss printing industry.”

Changeover in 7 Minutes Instead of 45
When it comes to performance, energy efficiency, climate protection and technical equipment, Comprinta has set itself ambitious targets – and places trust in the latest production systems. In addition to two Rapida 106 machines from KBA, the young organization has thus invested in a Primera E140 from Muller Martini’s new generation of saddle stitchers, which boast five feeders, cover feeders, Perfetto stackers and a belt delivery. “The runs for our commercial products range from as few as 100 copies to tens of thousands,” explains Managing Director Daniel Schnyder. “For this reason we need to change over quite frequently. This led us toward our decision to go for the high level of automation and simple operator guidance offered by the Primera.”

Machine operator Robert Roci confirms how much time is saved during the changeover: “In the past, it took up to 45 minutes to change a job, now with the Primera I only need seven.” According to Daniel Schnyder, an extensive evaluation revealed that next to automation and quality checks, the high level of trim quality in the newly-designed three-knife trimmer and the positive experiences of other reputable companies aided Comprinta’s decision to buy the Primera E140. A few months after commissioning, Daniel Schnyder and Robert Roci provide a positive summary: “For us it was a gratifying startup period as we went into production with the Primera just a few days after installation.”

Networking Optimizes Processes
In addition, the new Muller Martini saddle stitcher can also be fully networked. “In a printing center now incorporating four partners, this is an important claim. We are convinced that networking not only considerably accelerates the production process, but it is also designed to be transparent and therefore repeatable”, emphasizes Robert Roci. Comprinta is also the first graphics company in Switzerland to invest in the Connex digital workflow system developed by Muller Martini. “Connex is an important addition to our range of automation solutions and helps us to optimize our processes,” remarks Daniel Schnyder with confidence.
