Self-adhesive communication goes Green with HP Latex

Wednesday 02. June 2010 - All testing stages on the RI-Jet series at HP’s wide format research & development centre in Barcelona underline the full compatibility of Ritrama materials with Latex technology. "Ritrama is contributing to the evolution of wide format printing" - says Francois Martin from HP

Ritrama, a leading manufacturer of self-adhesive materials, confirms its strong focus on environmental sustainability by gaining the full compatibility of its RI-Jet series with HP Latex waterbased technology. The testing stage made by HP engineers in the Barcelona’s wide format worldwide headquarters, delivered satisfying results in terms of performance and compatibility. From now onwards all HP customers already using Latex may take advantage from the huge range of Ritrama self-adhesives for their projects, while thousands of printers who’re already using RI-Jet with solvent and eco-solvent printers gain a new good reason to switch to Latex.

HP Latex Inks are pigmented waterbased inks designed for commercial and industrial applications, such as those jobs printed on Ritrama materials for vehicle wraps, exhibitions, point-of-purchase decoration, floor graphics, outdoor and indoor advertising. Latex technology joins together the best advantages of waterbased, such as odourless print and no-VOC emission, with an outdoor durability comparable to solvent. Furthermore, printed materials produced with Latex don’t require additional drying and are ready for immediate lamination, allowing printers to improve their time-to-market, increasing customer satisfaction, revenue and margins. The HP Latex printers range goes from the compact Designjet L25500 to commercial version LX600 and LX800. This last model, just announced at IPEX 2010, is a 3,2 metres superwide printer that may produce in multi-roll mode using smaller rolls.

“The certification gained from HP confirms the quality and versatility of Ritrama self-adhesive materials, but most of all represent a new goal in our journey towards a cleaner environment and a pleasant workplace” – affirms Ronald Rink, Viscom Division Manager at Ritrama – “In our environmental statement the sustainability is a key value, pursued every day through a clean manufacturing processes, the use of renewable energy sources and the development of eco-friendly products”.

“The amount of suppliers delivering compatible substrate to our Latex Printers is very imporant. Our current strong success is above our expectation – states Francois Martin, Marketing Director HP Graphic Solution Business EMEA – the combination of HP ink technologies and the wide range of media offered did enable new applications. The industry is changing and we strongly believe a new printing standard will soon emerge demonstrating that that innovation is the path forward and Ritrama is one of these companies contributing to the evolution of wide format printing”.

Ritrama recommends to make preliminary tests on customer’s HP Latex printer in order to find the right settings and achieve the best results on the selected material.
