Wednesday 12. May 2010 - Sindelfingen printing company orders a 64-page LITHOMAN

Körner Rotationsdruck belongs among the pioneers of modern commercial web offset printing. Now they have added another chapter to their pioneering achievements by ordering a 64-page LITHOMAN, the first commercial web printing system of the autoprint series that will be introduced at IPEX 2010.

Körner Rotationsdruck in Sindelfingen, Germany, has opted for a LITHOMAN, the high-volume commercial web press. This full-service printer with 200 employees specializes in catalogs, magazines and brochures. Körner offers customers an exceptional price/performance ratio in terms of top quality, service and deadline dependability, which demands a high level of flexibility and productivity. The company already has three ROTOMAN presses and one POLYMAN. The 64-page LITHOMAN autoprint will fit in here nicely and replace one ROTOMAN. The new press is scheduled to start production early in 2011. The autoprint series already feature fully-automated job changeover and system start-up which ensures flexibility, efficient planning and fewer waste sheets. manroland’s vision is fully-automated production with the printer taking on the role of a process monitor.

A tradition of innovation
Dr. Peter Conrady, Managing Director of manroland Süddeutschland, has already seen a few premieres at Körner: “The first 70,000 copies per hour ROTOMAN premiered in Sindelfingen, and after that the first 80,000 copies per hour ROTOMAN. Körner has always been innovative and we are very pleased that they consider manroland their first-choice partner.” As Körner Managing Director Dr. Helmut Wohland explains: “The LITHOMAN convinced us with its considerable technical progress, especially in automation, and the resulting economic efficiency. This applies to both high volume jobs and short runs as well, giving us maximum production flexibility. manroland has implemented the decisive functions in line with what we envisioned during the development phase.”

How does one achieve production flexibility? autoprint stands for fully-automated job changeover and start-up of the commercial web printing system. Manual tasks are reduced to a minimum. The control package AutoJobChange coordinates many job changeover tasks such as plate changing – fully automated with APL – and pre-inking with the patented QuickStart system. For a smooth change from one job to the next.

Körner Rotationsdruck has high standards of quality. In recognition of outstanding performances in the premium printing segment, the company won the Druck&Medien Award for “Catalog Printer of the Year” in 2005 and 2008. Körner’s environmental standards are just as high. This FSC-certified printing company purifies its waste water, uses alcohol-free fountain solution, and provides 150 single-family houses with heat. Körner and Stadtwerke Sindelfingen GmbH (municipal utilities) have been jointly operating a heat recovery plant since 2008, and in future the 64-page LITHOMAN autoprint will be integrated in this circuit.
