Thursday 18. March 2010 - New Dimension Pro 4-page system added to portfolio Dimension Pro Series supports Presstek’s Aeon and Aurora Pro thermal plates

Presstek, Inc. (NASDAQ: PRST), a leading supplier of digital offset printing solutions to the printing and communications industries, today announced that it will add a new four-page platesetter to the Presstek Dimension Pro family at IPEX, one of the world’s leading trade shows for the printing, publishing and media industries scheduled for May 18th – 25th, 2010, in Birmingham, UK. Presstek will be located in Hall 7, Stand C480. The Dimension Pro series of platesetters image Presstek’s chemistry-free Aurora Pro and Presstek’s Aeon thermal plates and other 830nm thermal media.

“Presstek continues to enhance its line of Dimension Pro platesetters,” said Kathy McHugh, Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of Presstek. “Dimension Pro platesetters offer streamlined production and fast cycle time to press-ready plates; when using our chemistry-free Aurora Pro plate, only a simple water wash is required before mounting on press. The Dimension Pro also images Presstek’s Aeon open platform plate as well as other 830nm plates, making it one of the most versatile CTP offerings available.”

Dimension Pro CTP systems provide high performance, ease of use and low cost of operation to make printing businesses more capable, profitable and competitive. A Dimension Pro system is available to fit any existing prepress environment. When using Presstek chemistry-free thermal plates, only a water wash is required after imaging prior to mounting on press. No chemical processing, gumming or baking is required, and there is no need to purchase, store, manage or dispose of noxious chemistry. It is a proven architecture with an imaging head that employs multiple-laser technology.

The Presstek Dimension Pro comes in four different models:
· Dimension Pro 420: This semiautomatic platesetter images up to 20 Presstek or other 830nm thermal plates per hour. Dimension Pro 400 series models offer 39″ (990mm) maximum plate sizes so six-page press operators do not have to purchase a larger platesetter than they need.
· Dimension Pro 443: This high-productivity model images up to 43 plates an hour, automatically adjusts image size to compensate for thermal plate expansion and contraction, and offers finer line screen ruling with enhanced accuracy. Maximum plate sizes are the same as the Dimension Pro 420.
· Dimension Pro 815: A semiautomatic platesetter, Dimension Pro 815 models image up to 15 Presstek or other 830nm thermal plates per hour in sizes up to 45″ x 33″(1143mm x 838mm).
· Dimension Pro 815 Plus: In addition to all of the features of the 815 model, the 815 Plus offers finer line screen ruling with enhanced accuracy by automatically adjusting image size to compensate for thermal plate expansion and contraction.

Dimension Pro 443, 815 and 815 Plus models can be configured with a factory-installed Autoloader for automatic loading and unloading functions. Plates are automatically loaded from a stack when needed. Unloading delivers plates to a washer, processor or stacker. For the 815 and 815 Plus, an alternative factory installed Auto-unload option is available for those who want to manually load with automatic unloading.

Dimension Pro offers resolutions of up to 2400 dpi with a 25 micron spot size. The Dimension Pro 420 and 815 support screen ruling up to 250 lpi. Featuring enhanced accuracy, the Dimension Pro 443 and 815 Plus support screen ruling up to 450 lpi.

“We are excited to be bringing this fully-featured addition to our Dimension Pro platesetter line to IPEX,” added McHugh, “It has the ability to image a wide range of plates from Presstek and other suppliers, including Presstek’s new Aeon open platform plate being shown for the first time in Europe. Aeon enables run lengths of 200,000 to one million impressions and positions Presstek to become a leading global supplier of digital thermal plates.”
