RPI Sets New Records on HP Indigo Presses

Tuesday 02. March 2010 - RPI Now Ranks as One of the Top 20 Producers of Annual Impressions Worldwide

RPI, a leader in automated, personalized manufacturing and fulfillment for the consumer print-on-demand market, today announced that it set a new company record for print production on HP Indigo digital presses in 2009, printing enough pages to make it one of the top 10 U.S. firms in HP Indigo print volume, and one of the top 20 worldwide. Already the largest digital printer on the West Coast using HP Indigo presses, RPI set a new benchmark in 2009 with the introduction of “The Obama Time Capsule: World History in the Making,” one of the first customizable coffee table books to have wide audience appeal.
“Manufacturing advances such as the HP Indigo digital press are revolutionizing printing and production by making quantity one print-on-demand affordable for the Main Street consumer,” said Rick Bellamy, CEO of RPI. “RPI’s advanced make-on-demand capabilities now stretch from publishing phenomena such as ’The Obama Time Capsule’ project, where a buyer’s personal experiences are seamlessly woven into an existing and historic storyline, to customized photo books capturing and commemorating weddings and other life events.”

“The Obama Time Capsule” landmark book project showcased one of the most important presidential races in American history, and enabled consumers to add personal photos that were overlaid into the book’s design. HP was the lead sponsor of the project.

“RPI is well-known for its attention to quality and on-time delivery, and the HP Indigo digital presses are helping it maintain that reputation even while it is experiencing significant business growth,” said Jan Riecher, vice president and general manager, Graphics Solutions Business Americas – HP. “The presses offer a level of reliable production and high-end imaging that make it ideal for personalized photo and publishing products, as evidenced by the success of ‘The Obama Time Capsule’ project.”

Bellamy recently discussed RPI’s experience as the fulfillment partner for “The Obama Time Capsule” project in a webinar sponsored by Book Business magazine. “Customized Books…What is the Opportunity?,” included InfoTrends analyst Barb Pellow and Richard Adey, director of Penwizard, and is now available for download at: http://www.targetmarketingmag.com/webinar/customized-books-what-opportunity. Ted Reischling, president and chief sales officer for RPI, also discussed “The Obama Time Capsule” project at the Dscoop (Digital Solutions Cooperative) annual conference, held in late February in Dallas, TX.

Celebrating its 30th anniversary, RPI has produced millions of photo products for partners such as Snapfish by HP, and was the first in the industry to hit the three million production mark for customized photo books in 2009.
