Friday 11. December 2009 - Macmillan Cancer Support has secured a top marketing prize for The Little Green Book of Fundraising Ideas, which was produced on PaperCo 9lives Offset recycled stock. It was the winner of the Third Sector category of the Marketing Design Awards.

Macmillan uses 9Lives Offset as its house stock for fundraising materials. Anthony Rathbone, production and logistics manager for Macmillan, says: “9lives bulk allows us to produce items with a substantial feel, without having to increase our grammage, keeping our costs down. It’s 100% recycled and FSC accredited and it complements Macmillan’s visual identify brilliantly. It’s whiteness shows off our bold green silhouettes and unique typeface and adds to how instantly recognisable our publications have become.”

The charity switched to using recycled stock, working closely with WRAP, the Waste and Resources Action Programme. It did so without compromising its need to spend ethically and financially soundly.

The Little Book of Fundraising Ideas used 140, 170 and 250gsm papers for its 94pp 120 x 168mm book which was designed in house with print organised through GI Solutions, Leicester. The print run was 15,000.

Macmillan’s senior designer Corin Martin says: “We wanted to create a product that would inspire current and new supporters to fundraise for us. The concept of 101 different fundraising ideas gave us the scope to use different creative approaches throughout the booklet – really making the most of our Macmillan headline font, silhouettes and photography.”

The book includes raffle tickets, Christmas cracker jokes, sticker sheets and even a punch-out masquerade mask.

Macmillan is PaperCo’s preferred charity and the paper merchant is working hard to raise enough money to fund a Macmillan nurse for 100 days.
