The Media And Precision Technology Company (President: Kyohei Fujisawa) of Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Kyoto, Japan) will commence sales of the Truepress Jet1600UV-F, a new wide-format inkjet printer for the sign/display industry, in the latter part of September 2009.
In recent years, demand for short run printing has continued to increase in the commercial printing industry, and sales of POD (Print on Demand) systems that are capable of printing the required number of copies of a document at the desired time have been brisk. The digital printing market has been expanding rapidly, thanks to continuing advancements in inkjet technology, which is expected to make it possible to print onto a wide variety of media. In acknowledgment of these trends, Screen introduced the high-end Truepress Jet2500UV UV-cured inkjet printer for the growing wide-format inkjet printing market in 2007.
It was Screen’s first serious foray into the sign/display industry.
The Truepress Jet1600UV-F Screen is releasing this fall is an innovative wide-format inkjet printer that features Screen’s first* UV-LED as part of a UV light source that cures the ink immediately after printing. The UV-LED light source generates very little heat, so it can be used even with heat-sensitive media. The light source also has a long useful life and draws little electricity, making the Truepress Jet1600UV-F gentle to the environment.
In addition to being able to image 1,602 x 3,100 mm, the world’s largest class, the Truepress Jet1600UVF features a grayscale imaging head and high resolution output – up to 1,200 dpi – that make high printing quality a reality. What’s more, the Truepress Jet1600UV-F can print with two different types of UV ink, a flexible ink that can be bent or stretched after printing, and a rigid ink that is resistant to friction and chemicals.
Since the user can choose the appropriate type of ink for the media being used personally, this makes the Truepress Jet1600UV-F suitable for a remarkably wide range of uses.
Through the release of the Truepress Jet1600UV-F, Screen is accelerating its efforts to provide a full range of products, from entry-level to high-end, for the wide-format inkjet market. As a leading company in the world’s printing and prepress industries, Screen looks forward to expanding its line of products for the inkjet printing field, which will in turn contribute to the development of the industry.
