Sales of New Flexo/Letterpress CtP Recorder Commence
Monday 11. May 2009 - High-Level Imaging Technology Enables up to 4,800 dpi Output, Resulting in Both High Quality and High Productivity
The Media and Precision Technology Company (President: Kyohei Fujisawa) of Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Kyoto, Japan) has recently developed a new thermal CtP recorder for the flexo and letterpress printing industries that features imaging technology that enables output at a maximum of 4,800 dpi. Sales of this unit, which is known as the PlateRite FX870II, will commence in May 2009, in all markets worldwide.
In recent years, due to demand in the package printing industry for products that stand out by enabling faster turnaround, there has been pressure to develop equipment that offers high quality output at high speed.
To meet this demand, the use of combination printing presses has expanded, and the need for prepress equipment that offers both higher quality and higher productivity is increasing.
Screens newly developed PlateRite FX870II was designed to meet the needs of todays package printing industry. Inspired by the PlateRite FX870, a high-quality, high-productivity unit designed for package printing industry tasks such as the printing of labels and folding cartons, the PlateRite FX870II offers even higher quality and productivity. The PlateRite FX870II can be used for any of a wide variety of narrow web printing tasks, including the industrys mainstay, label printing.
The PlateRite FX870II features a newly developed high-output recording head, as well as an autobalancing function that ensures stable drum rotation. It offers high productivity-4 m2*1 of flexo plates and 6 m2*1 of letterpress plates per hour-as well as high quality imaging. As the worlds first*2 flexo CtP model for the label printing industry offering a maximum resolution of 4,800 dpi, the PlateRite FX870II significantly reduces the incidence of problems often seen at lower resolutions, such as jaggies in diagonal lines and arcs. Its reproduction of fine lines is also outstanding. Gradations look smooth, and unevenness in printing, particularly in the highlight regions, is almost entirely minimized. The PlateRite 870II also features a clamp that makes plate loading a breeze, as well as a variety of other mechanisms that make the unit extremely easy to operate.
By adding the option of output to thermal offset printing plates with the PlateRite FX870II, Screen is continuing to strengthen to its flexo and letterpress product line, while also expanding its lineup of special halftone dots that enable high quality and consistency for flexo output. This will help ensure that Screen is able to meet a wider range of needs in the market worldwide, while increasing the companys share of the market even further.
