Pakready launches bureau service for fast packaging prototypes

The bureau uses Pakready technology to produce lifelike simulations of packaging and POS item in a fraction of the time normally taken. With all images and graphics in position prototypes can be created from single or multiple A1 boards in vibrant full colour.

Tuesday 08. September 2009 - Following the appointment of Derek Sizer as its new Managing Director, Pakready is launching a bureau service for rapid prototyping and short runs of boxes, specialty packaging and POS collateral. The bureau will operate from the Pakready offices in Manchester, UK and provide a ‘web-to-prototype’ service over the Internet for countries in Europe.

“This is an important strategic move for us,” states Sizer. “We need to show the packaging industry at large that the traditional and time consuming process of packaging prototyping is a thing of the past for many applications. There is no better way than by practical demonstration of the capabilities.”

The bureau uses Pakready technology to produce lifelike simulations of packaging and POS item in a fraction of the time normally taken. With all images and graphics in position prototypes can be created from single or multiple A1 boards in vibrant full colour.

“In an industry where ‘time-to-market’ is king, there are many brand managers and packaging developers that cannot realise the benefits of fast prototyping through lack of information or access to a local Pakready user. Our bureau will close that gap and also support other Pakready users when their workload is too high.

“The web gives us a fantastic opportunity to make the service international. If a file is sent to us electronically, subject to suitability, we hope to courier completed packs within 48 hours. We also provide expertise and advice on file delivery and cutting guides.”

The bureau will also be an important conduit through which Pakready can keep abreast of the latest techniques and design ideas in the packaging industry. According to Andrew Greenwood, who will be running the bureau service, “We operate in a very diverse industry where needs vary from a single box to a complex, multi-part POS display. Our bureau service will expose Pakready to a wide spectrum of packaging work and act as a catalyst for future product improvements and further Pakready innovations.”
