UNISOURCE WINE NOW OFFERS STAND-UP CORRUGATED WINE SHIPPERS
Wednesday 02. September 2009 - Corrugated Packaging Available In Both Six and 12 Bottle Kits
Unisource Worldwide, Inc., one of the leading distributors of paper, packaging and facility supplies in North America, has added stand-up corrugated wine shippers to its line up of environmentally-friendly wine packaging options.
It’s not too early for wine vintners and purveyors to start planning for this year’s 2009 holiday season, when 30 to 40 percent of annual wine sales occur. The new stand-up corrugated wine shippers offered by Unisource Wine include shipping packaging units that come in both six and 12 bottle kits. Among the many features of this new packaging are:
Made of 100% corrugated box material, 20% to 40% post-consumer recycled content
100% Biodegradable and 100% Recyclable
Minimal increase in shipping weight verses expanded Poly-Styrofoam
Lower shipping weight verses other corrugated wine shipper designs
Unique design featuring 360 degree air cell on perimeter of unit
Double-wall construction of inserts and HD singlewall carton construction
Designed for top-loading stand-up bottle orientation
“Our new stand-up corrugated wine shippers offer both superior protection and a green shipping solution that enables the efficient and safe shipment of six and 12 bottle wine shipments,” said Rod Levitt, Director of Unisource Wine’s packaging sales in Santa Rosa, CA. “This packaging is competitively priced and also features adult signature required instructions that are preprinted on the top of the shipping carton flap, which significantly reduces expenses related to labeling requirements.”
Unisource Wine’s packaging options are also helping customers in their efforts to be environmentally responsible. “We continue to partner with Unisource because they provide alternatives that assist us in achieving our green initiatives,” said Chris Holman, Operations Manager for Gundlach Bundschu and Bartholomew Park Wineries in Sonoma County, CA.
“For instance, we just could not find a distributor to help us eliminate our 12-pack Styrofoam shipper. I asked our Warehouse Coordinator, Joe Kenney, to put Unisource to the test. We partnered together to develop a solution and after a few trials, Unisource assisted us in designing our new shipper. We are pleased to have been part of a solution to help remove Styrofoam from land fills,” said Holman. Gundlach Bundschu is certified by the Bay Area Green Business program, a partnership of government agencies and utilities that requires adherence to strict standards of conserving resources, preventing pollution and minimizing waste.
