technotrans sets up business area gds as independent company

As director of gds AG Ulrich Pelster, formerly head of the business unit, will lead the new company to success.

Tuesday 01. September 2009 - technotrans AG, system supplier for the offset printing industry, releases the business area global document solutions into independence.

As a service provider for technical documentation and as software developer and supplier gds AG will in future be independently active in the market. “technotrans is a technological company and gds is a pure service provider. In the past it was somewhat difficult to explain this disparity to gds customers,” Henry Brickenkamp, Spokesman of the Board of Management of technotrans AG explains the background of this decision. “As an independent subsidiary gds AG can better demonstrate its key competence in the market place and thus better exploit growth potential.”

The business area gds has developed from the internal department for Technical Documentation. “The quality of our own documentation was a decisive factor for the first external customers for purchasing this service from us. And when we realised that no-one was offering software tools that satisfied our demands, we decided to develop them ourselves. Today we sell this software under the names docuglobe and docuterm. Due to the success of the business area and its continued growth, we are sure, that gds will in future make an important contribution in consistently extending our activities beyond the print industry,” says Brickenkamp.
