Friday 21. August 2009 - Celebrates One-Year Anniversary with Sleek New Web Site and Debut Event
The Los Angeles Times Media Group today announced Steven Gellman as Publisher of LA, Los Angeles Times Magazine. Gellman joins LA as the publication marks its first anniversary, unveils a vibrant, expanded online presence at latimesmagazine.com and hosts its first high-end, themed event.
“LA has established itself with a distinctively Southern California voice and insiders perspective on the regions influential people, places and ideas,” said John OLoughlin, Los Angeles Times Media Group Executive Vice President, Advertising Sales. “Steve Gellman brings the winning combination of experience and ingenuity to grow and extend the possibilities of LAs vision and were very pleased to have him on board.”
Gellman will lead LA with Editor in Chief Annie Gilbar, overseeing business operations and strategy including advertising, marketing, promotion and events. He brings with him a wealth of publishing experience and has held executive positions with lifestyle and industry brands including The Hollywood Reporter, Los Angeles magazine, and BAM, the California music magazine, where he began his more than 20-year media career.
“The opportunity to guide LAs expansion, and bring advertisers the multi-platform, multimedia solutions weve conceived to connect them with our influential audiences passions for travel, food and California living is very exciting,” said Gellman. “Weve seen the Magazines rich editorial environment resonate with iconic luxury brands such as Cartier and Louis Vuitton while also attracting premium entertainment properties like HBO and Showtime – and were looking forward to offering marketers even more ways to partner with us in our second year.”
The September 6th issue will feature a Fall fashion cover and pictorial, intimate portraits by friends of Diane von Furstenberg and Christian Louboutin, and Project Runways Tim Gunns own reflections on his improbable career. In addition, readers will find LAs tastemaker Nic Harcourts current music picks and contributor Annie Jacobsens story about a double-bass virtuosos mission to perform for recovering addicts in Afghanistan. In tandem, latimesmagazine.com offers a fresh destination full of complementary, interactive features, articles, video and Web-only content, including just-launched Arts & Culture Editor Mayer Rus new “From Rus with Love” blog.
On October 10, LA will host “Conversations on Health & Wellness” at Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif. This inaugural event will complement Octobers health & wellness issue and provide an intimate, interactive experience for consumers and a targeted, immersive opportunity for advertisers, sponsors and exhibitors.
