HP today announced the launch of HP SmartStream Production Pro Print Server 3.5 that offers enhanced performance, productivity and variable data handling capabilities for high quality, high volume production.
In what is a major step-change in performance, HP SmartStream Production Pro Print Server 3.5 delivers faster layer, imposition and variable data handing with the power to drive 16 HP Indigo 7000 Digital Presses, or 40 HP Indigo press 5XXXs. These, and its other features, make it ideal for transpromotional, photo-specialty, publications and direct mail applications.
Improvements in colour capabilities enable the reliable and accurate matching of PANTONE Colours using HP IndiChrome Plus seven-colour (CMYKOVG) technology.
New press support
The HP SmartStream Production Pro Print Server 3.5 supports all the latest HP Indigo commercial presses including the HP Indigo press 5500, the HP Indigo 7000 Digital Press, the HP Indigo W7200 Digital Press and the HP Indigo WS6000 Digital Press for Commercial. Support of the digital web presses includes the ability to impose and print “banner” formats for covers for books and photobooks as well as other publication formats.

Designed to be a high-performance raster image processor and press controller for large-volume and complex variable-data jobs, the HP SmartStream Production Pro Print Server is a next-generation print server and IT solution for HP Indigo digital colour production segments such as: general commercial print applications that include brochures and sell-sheets; direct marketing that includes direct mail and transpromotional applications, publishing that includes applications such as books and manuals; and photo merchandise products such as photobooks and photo calendars.
An off-press solution, the server connects to print service providers’ management information systems, taking workflow tasks out of the press room and putting them in the prepress environment where they can be efficiently and centrally managed.
