allflex Flexible Packaging Installs HP Indigo press ws4500 for Digital Label Printing

Wednesday 19. August 2009 - Leading flexible packaging printer, allflex Folienveredlun GmbH & Co. KG, of Achen, has installed its first digital press, a seven-colour HP Indigo press ws4500, to offer customers very short runs, proofs and dummies of flexible packaging and self-adhesive labels on final substrates.

The press can also be used for shrink sleeve applications. The ease and speed with which changes to artwork files can be made and printed will help brand owners shorten their time to market while enabling allflex to offer new services.

The HP Indigo press ws4500 prints at 16m/minute (four colours), can match 97 percent of PANTONE Colours (including white) – an important feature for allflex Flexible Packaging’s food and drink customers where accurate brand colours are essential. The ability of the press to print opaque white is important when printing on transparent materials.

The HP Indigo press ws4500, allflex complements the company’s existing flexographic and gravure capabilities and enables the company to offer long and short runs, on-demand labels and flexible packaging and added value features like variable data for bar codes and sell-by dates. According to Kurt Bräutigam, department head labels and digital printing, allflex, an important reason for choosing the press was that HP had the experience and reputation for support and service that the company wanted when taking its first step into digital printing.
