Harland Simon to Upgrade Presses at Trinity Mirror

Friday 21. August 2009 - Printing Press Services International Ltd has chosen Harland Simon as their partners in the upgrading of the Goss Colorliner presses at Trinity Mirror Printing in Newcastle Upon Tyne.

The press control system will be upgraded to the latest version of PressNet which will precede the press extension. Harland Simon will be responsible for integrating the new printing units into the existing press line, and upgrading the Prima Management System to allow for the increased impositions that will be available.
As well as the increased pagination Trinity Mirror will benefit from a much improved press control system including improved desk screens and diagnostics.
As part of the same project, Harland Simon has received a separate order from Trinity Mirror Printing, Newcastle for additional desk screens and the integration of Quadtech register controls into the new PressNet system. This will allow the Quadtech system to be started and stopped from the Harland Simon operator screens, as well as controlling shift values so that circumferential and lateral adjustments made at the screen can be routed to the Quadtech system.
David Wallen – Director of Customer Services, said “We are very pleased to receive these orders. It allows us to bring our existing customer’s press controls into the 21st century so that Trinity Mirror, Newcastle can enjoy the benefits of the faster press communications, the much improved graphics on the screens and the remote support services available for the Newcastle team.”
The new system including the extended press towers is scheduled to be complete in early November 2009.
