PACKAGING OUT OF RECESSION – PROPAK CHINA LEADS THE WAY
Thursday 30. July 2009 - If there was any doubt that China was back in growth mode, results at the end of ProPak China and China BevTek 2009, clearly show that it's business as usual at this particular event in Shanghai for the processing, packaging and liquid technology industry. The exhibition was inaugurated by Wang Wenzhe, Chairman of China National Food Industry Association on 15th July and ran until 17th July 2009 at Shanghai New International Expo Centre, Pudong.
The 15th edition of ProPak China, the international processing, packaging and end-line printing technology event, and 2nd edition of China BevTek 2009, for beverage, brewing and liquid technology covered an area slightly larger than the record breaking 2008 exhibition. While visitors this year were 14,046, with 1,567 attending from outside China. Visitors to the show came from across over China, including delegations from Beijing; Heilongjiang; Guangdong; Jiangsu; Zhejiang; Sichuan and Yunan. Leading China based companies attending included Coca Cola; Pepsico; Shanghai Bright Dairy; Dior; LOreal; Shell Tongyi; Nestle; P&G; Tsingtao Brewery; Unilever; Oishi; Wantwant and many more.
“Exhibitions are a good indicator of an upturn in a market. Hence, I am particularly delighted to report not only the growth in floor area for both ProPak and China BevTek but also the boost in visitor numbers with exhibitors particularly praising the high quality of customers they met this year. There has been some turnover of exhibitors at the show. However, the most important brands have returned to the exhibition and many new companies, recognizing an opportunity, have joined this year for the first time.” commented Brendan Jennings, General Manager of China International Exhibitions.
Participating companies are the best judge of an exhibitions success:
“ProPak is the most important and leading platform in China
German exhibitors are very satisfied with this event
they had lots of high quality contacts and many of them reconfirmed their participation in the next show”. Vera Fritsche, Food Processing and Packaging Machinery Manager, VDMA, German Machinery Association
“This is the only show in China where we are sure to meet high quality customers and do business”. Mr. Wang Fu Sheng, General Manager, Beijing Macwell
“We met many visitors and potential customers from China but also from Middle East and India.” Mr. Jin, Vice General Manager, Langfang BestCrown.
Further endorsement of ProPak China is evidenced by the fact that it is the only show for the processing and packaging industry in China to regularly receive the support of the worlds leading processing & packaging technology associations. The 2009 show was no exception, where National Pavilions joined from VDMA, Germany; KPMA, Korea; TAMI, Taiwan; PPMA, UK; PMMI and fpsa USA.
“It is at times of economic downturn that manufactures most urgently need to reduce costs and increase efficiency”, commented Brendan Jennings. He added “14,046 producers from China and overseas of food, beverages, dairy, confectionary/ snacks, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, FMCG goods, electronics and industrial manufacturing had the opportunity to meet 400 companies from 22 countries in just 3 days in Shanghai and all will have all benefited from their visit to ProPak China and China BevTek 2009.”
This year, ProPak China and China BevTek played host to a range of industry conferences covering the brewing, beverage, food manufacturing and pharmaceutical sectors. A particular highlight was the return of the China Food Industry Association, Brewing Committees Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Brewing Technology forum. The AGM attracted over 150 breweries from across China including industry leaders, HuaRen Snow Beer, SAB Miller, Inbev, Tsingtao, Yangjing amongst others.
Confidence in the Chinese domestic market is strong. Billion dollar investment plans announced recently by industry giants in the beverage, cosmetic, and snack foods sector to expand production facilities in China, point the way towards anticipated growth in the local market. While Government drives to improve the image of “Made in China” across all industries, has resulted in a host of new regulations. All encouraging signs for suppliers of processing and packaging technology and for the return of an even larger ProPak China and China BevTek in 2010.
The 16th ProPak China and 3rd China BevTek will take place from 14-16 July 2010 at Shanghai New International Expo Centre.
