FESPA Digital 2009: Huge interest in CA certified printing media
Monday 29. June 2009 - Color Alliance demonstrated how to make the large format printing production process reliable
The Color Alliance (CA) was represented by three partners at FESPA Digital Europe 2009 in Amsterdam: by Erfurt on the Epson stand, by Julius Heywinkel and by Neschen. The CA certified media was met with great interest on all three stands. Interest centered predominantly on the CA workflow, which on the basis of standardized coatings drastically reduces the number of color profiles. This simplifies the production processes considerably, which thus provide a high degree of reliability.
“At FESPA we demonstrated in real-time that printing service providers, dealers, buyers and end users can also enjoy process reliability when working in the area of large format inkjet printing,” explained André Kapsa, CEO of Vlotho-based Color Alliance. “That is enormously important for end users in particular, for whom production reliability is vital. And that’s why a certificate guarantees the color correctness at the end of the CA workflow.”
CA certified films, textiles and wallpapers
The new CA printing media was also a resounding success from the perspective of Neschen, the coating specialists. “Placing the CA media at the center of our trade-fair presentation was definitely worthwhile,” said a delighted Frank Seemann, Head of Marketing & Communications at Neschen AG in Bückeburg. “The new CA display media was especially well received by our visitors.”
“FESPA was a whole new experience for us as a wallpaper specialist,” said Lars Jentzen, Head of Advertising and PR at Wuppertal-based Erfurt. “We presented a wallpaper there that is printed rather than being painted. In addition, this Erfurt digital non-woven wallpaper has a coating applied that comes from Color Alliance. On the one hand, it makes professional printing with inkjet printers possible; on the other hand, it guarantees process reliability within the CA workflow and a perfect result on the wall.”
Michael Kirk, Head of Sales (Sign Fabrics) at Julius Heywinkel GmbH, Bramsche, is already convinced that his CA textiles will be a success. “I’ve come to this conclusion because of the large volume of qualified visitors that we received at FESPA. As a member of Color Alliance we now provide an optimized inkjet production method with which the color correctness can be clearly demonstrated. Sample printouts, which for LFP in particular can be quite costly, are now superfluous: if the CA light is green, we are confident that the color impression is correct.”
Color Alliance is a global cooperation to which leading international printing media manufacturers as well as a software and a wallpaper producer belongs. Printing media that has been classified by them bears the label ‘CA certified’ or ‘CA approved’. The standardized CA coating enables them to guarantee color accuracy and color reproducibility globally. This can be checked using the quality assurance tool ‘CA Control Tool’, which is integrated in the PS5 CA Edition software package.
