TONBRIDGE & MALLING BOROUGH COUNCIL SIGNS NEW 10 YEAR CONTRACT WITH AYLESFORD NEWSPRINT

Wednesday 10. June 2009 - Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council (TMBC) has recently renewed its kerbside paper recycling contract with Aylesford Newsprint, extending it for 10 years until 2019. The decision to extend the contract for such a significant length of time highlights the strength of the relationship and represents a clear commitment to quality recycling for another decade.

Aylesford Newsprint manufactures 100% recycled newsprint and is one of the UK’s leading reprocessors of recovered paper. Since launching as Aylesford Newsprint some 15 years ago, the Kent-based mill has gained a reputation for the manufacture of excellent quality paper and practical recycling solutions.

Aylesford Newsprint has been working with the Council for more than 15 years. Speaking about the contract renewal, Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Environmental Services, Cllr Owen Baldock, said: “We have been very impressed with Aylesford Newsprint and receive excellent support from them. Renewing the kerbside recycling contract for 10 years will ensure the successful partnership remains strong, even in the face of a buoyant market.”

The Council currently collects approximately 4,300 tonnes of quality, source segregated paper each year and delivers it directly to the mill at Aylesford, Kent.

Gemma Barratt, Recycling Area Manager at Aylesford Newsprint, is delighted at the decision: “We work hard to deliver exceptional service and build long-term relationships so naturally we are thrilled that our partnership with Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council will continue for another decade. Working together over such a long time span enables us to find relevant solutions which can then form the backbone of our service to other suppliers.”
