Canon delivers increased efficiency and cost-savings

Monday 08. June 2009 - Therefore 2009 document management solution, scalable for use by SMEs through to large corporate enterprises and public sector organisations, enables users to capture, archive, search and retrieve information quicker and more securely.

The software has been designed to boost office efficiencies, speeding up business cycles and generating a faster return on investment. Beyond this, use of Therefore 2009 can also grow with a user’s business, saving on expensive replacement systems. More electronic document processing also allows reductions in print outputs and lower associated costs. Improved efficiencies also enable organisations to re-allocate valued resources from administrative tasks to core business.

“This software has been designed to deal with the challenging demands of today’s office environment and is extremely easy to use, said Luke Maddison, Product Manager Software at Canon Australia. “It accelerates the entire process of accessing and sharing information thereby improving workflow and boosting productivity in the office.”

Therefore 2009 allows organisations to define policies on the retention of data held on their systems and adjust settings within the solution to comply with any regulations it must adhere to. This ensures that documents are held only as long as required. In order to safe-guard business critical information, administrators can also configure and define rules with strict control on access to electronic documents.

Therefore 2009 offers three editions – personal, workgroup and business. The entry level ‘Personal Edition’ is designed for single use or small business users, and can be seamlessly upgraded as the company grows.

The ‘Workgroup Edition’, designed for use by between five and ten employees, allows organisations to capture, share, manage and retrieve structured, business-critical information such as invoices and contracts. It also includes the Therefore Web Client, giving users secure access to view files remotely via the internet.

The ‘Business Edition’ is designed for larger organisations or those who require workflow functionality. Customers can automate defined business processes using the integrated Workflow feature. It also eliminates the need for common manual workflows, leading to cost savings, a reduction in errors and increased efficiency.

“This launch reflects Canon’s commitment to providing customers with the most innovative print and document management solutions. But just as important of course,” explains Mr Maddison, “is our ongoing service support to ensure that the customer benefits realised are maintained long-term.”

Therefore 2009 is an upgrade from the ADOS v6.2. Building on the success of its predecessor, the new version incorporates an improved Graphical User Interface, delivering a more intuitive user experience. Central to this, the eCopy desktop connector ensures that documents scanned through a Canon MFD can be fed directly into the document management system through a simple link on screen.

Therefore 2009 enables users to view documents from over 250 file types, without the need to purchase and install third party software. The software is compatible with Microsoft Exchange and IBM Lotus Notes, enabling the automatic storage of emails to a central depositary.
