Escenic as a Service

Friday 22. May 2009 - Jeroen Meeter, IntermediaT CloudComputing and SaaS are on the rise..

Since the rise of new Service Providers like Force.com, Google Apps, Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services, it is becoming abundantly clear cloud computing offers advantages that are becoming too big to ignore for publishers that have to move fast at low cost. We are seeing many startups founded on pure cloud-infrastructure, but also traditional players like the New York Times and the Washington post starting to expand the use of cloud infrastructures.

The complete lack of upfront investments, the scalability and the speed of deployment cannot be matched by internal IT-departments or traditional service providers.

But how can publishers benefit?

IntermediaT now offers you all the advantages of cloud computing based on your customary Escenic CMS.

Based on previous implementations at several European publishers IntermediaT has developed an SaaS offering that allows publishers to use Escenic when they want, where they want and how they want with no upfront hardware investments or long commitment

IntermediaT will do for CMS what Salesforce did for CRM: Free the customer by separating the required functions from the dedicated infrastructure. Escenic on the web.

What is Escenic SaaS?

IntermediaT was founded by an experienced team of IT-and business managers with a focus of bringing customers the benefits of cloud computing, adapted to your specific needs. It brings a secure and reliable hosting environment in a SaaS package, so you get the advantages of the Cloud combined with security and reliability of a proprietary solution.

About the Speaker:

Jeroen Meeter (44, married, 3 kids), started his career in mainframe operating and worked in several IT-functions before becoming in 2003 ICT-director of PCM Uitgevers for PinkRoccade, to whom PCM Uitgevers had outsourced their IT-environment. In 2006 together with 6 colleagues he started a software company called Blue Billywig specializing in Video publishing (also present at Escenic event). Driven by a strong vision on the new cloud offerings and the real customer needs and discontent with the service provided by the large IT service companies, he started IntermediaT together with several former competitors and colleagues. They include the former director of Outsourcing for IBM Netherlands, the former CIO of PCM Uitgevers, the former project manager for PinkRoccade responsible for implementing editorial systems and the Escenic CMS for many newspaper customers. IntermediaT currently provides services for PCM Uitgevers and SDU uitgevers.
