Park Lane switches to Polar and gains 40% productivity bonus

Park Lane Press has replaced an ageing Wohlenberg guillotine with a Polar 92X. The company assessed all suppliers and, even though it is a rival press user, it felt that Heidelberg supplied the best guillotine on the market today.

Monday 18. May 2009 - Park Lane Press has replaced an ageing Wohlenberg guillotine with a Polar 92X. The company assessed all suppliers and, even though it is a rival press user, it felt that Heidelberg supplied the best guillotine on the market today.

“The finishing guys have used Polars in other companies and there is a confidence in Heidelberg,” says Tim Bacon, technical director. “The young operator worked on the Wohlenberg between the age of 18 and 22 years and now he’s loving the Polar which has increased output by 40%. He’s naturally quick and the guillotine suits him.”

The Corsham company works double day shifts but the guillotine will mainly operate on a daytime basis. Park Lane Press likes the ease with which the blades can be changed.

“Finishing can sell print. If we educate the customer to the best way to produce the job in finishing it is sometimes enough to win the job,” says Mr Bacon.
