FUJIFILM Sericol launches Inca Onset S20 at FESPA Digital 2009

Onset S20

Thursday 14. May 2009 - Onset series to transform the digital printing industry

FUJIFILM Sericol is officially launching the Onset S20 on its stand (Hall 1, C30 and D30) at FESPA Digital 2009, in partnership with Inca Digital. The S20 is the latest high performance addition to the Onset family which has already represented a major change in business dynamics for the industry. With these Onset printers, UV digital flatbed becomes an economical method of producing high-impact visual images, and more importantly produces far more print than any other digital flatbed printer currently available. The higher volume Onset S70 will also feature on stand on a big screen.

Tudor Morgan, European Graphic Marketing Manager at FUJIFILM Sericol, is excited about this new addition to the Onset family: “Printers continually seek increased productivity, reduced costs and greater flexibility with their printing processes, and the Onset S20 is the ideal solution for those who want all of the great features and possibilities the Onset S70 has brought to the industry, but don’t need the capacity to print 6000m2 plus a day. With the introduction of the S20, graphic printers can invest in a machine that not only fits individual printing needs, but can’t fail to increase profits, and consequently change their business model forever.”

The Onset S20, a UV curing inkjet flatbed printer, prints edge to edge onto substrates of 3.12m x 1.6m and up to 50mm thick, at speeds of 250m2/hr. The vacuum table with accurate pin positioning allows users to print single and double-sided on a variety of media sizes. Using FUJIFILM Sericol’s own Uvijet inks, the S20 is available with the Uvijet Ultratone system for more vivid prints and accurate spot-colours or a dual-channel white option. It also features a gloss level control to produce finishes from matt, through satin to high gloss depending on application, bringing massive versatility in the range of products that can be printed, e.g. display POS, exhibition graphics, backlit/frontlit displays and outdoor signage printing.

With up to an amazing 758 million drops of ink jetting per second on the Onset S20 and two UV curing lamps providing for near-instantaneous curing, the printing quality and results are so impressive that it is hard to tell the difference between Onset, screen and offset print. The machine is armed with a full bed width printhead array that features built-in automatic head cleaning and fault tolerance software. A new feature of the Onset S20 is that individual printheads can easily be replaced by trained operators, therefore reducing maintenance and costly downtime even further.

Morgan continues: “Printers are looking at the possibilities and prospective business opportunities in the market, and we can offer them the ultimate solution. The Onset devices deliver on quality, speed, cost and business economics presenting a new, very profitable, business solution. At FUJIFILM Sericol we are calling it the ‘Onset Effect’ and so far, approximately one million m2/month of high impact print is produced on Onsets.”

The Onset’s concept and design utilises the fourth generation of Inca Digital moving bed architecture proven over years of intense development and production, formed from the relationship between FUJIFILM Sericol with its understanding of ink and print applications, and expertise in graphic arts, and Inca, with its knowledge of inkjet printers. As a result, customers can enjoy the highest return on investment through top print speeds, excellent image quality and superb reliability and machine/ink performance.

With its graphic display heritage, FUJIFILM Sericol provides experience and understanding of the market that surpasses that of its inkjet competitors. The company offers dedicated business and application support to its customers, ensuring that users select the best solution for their company.

“The ‘Onset Effect’ means that graphic display printers will not just add a digital option to their service offering, but they will be able to update their whole business model,” adds Morgan. “By making use of our business support, customers also get the backing they need to widen their expertise with new printing possibilities, and also share our knowledge on colour, applications and co-supplier network, consequently broadening their service offering.”

He concludes, “Since previewing the S20 we have already taken five orders for installations in Europe alone, and the machine is now commercially available for printers who are keen to invest in a digital inkjet flatbed printer. We look forward to welcoming visitors at FESPA Digital to the stand for a first-hand view of these two printers that could change the way in which they do business forever.”
