FUJIFILM Sericol showcases Acuity family at FESPA Digital 2009

Tudor Morgan, European Graphic Marketing Manager at FUJIFILM Sericol

Wednesday 13. May 2009 - FUJIFILM Acuity Advance X2 shown for the first time at Europe-wide show

FUJIFILM Sericol is showcasing the exceptional print quality and versatility of the Acuity Advance and the newly launched Acuity Advance X2 on its stand (Hall 1, Stand C30 and D30) during FESPA Digital 2009. The Advance will be shown with the optional roll-to-roll module, which allows customers to adapt the printers to suit different needs giving the ability to print onto both rigid and flexible media.

Tudor Morgan, European Graphic Marketing Manager at FUJIFILM Sericol says: “FESPA Digital will be the first pan-European demonstration of the Acuity Advance X2, which is double the size of the Acuity Advance, the fastest-selling UV Inkjet flatbed on the market, with over 1,000 units sold in less than two years. We look forward to demonstrating to visitors on our stand what this next generation Acuity printer can offer.”

The Acuity Advance X2 has the same modified printhead array as the Advance and incorporates greyscale printhead technology to produce near-photographic quality print – unrivalled in the market today. The print area of the Advance X2 is twice the size of the Advance, making it the largest UV inkjet printer currently available. It prints onto substrates of 3.05m x 2.5m edge to edge, and as thick as 48mm, at a speed of 22m2/hr in production mode and 15m2/hr in high quality mode. The dual zoning system with independent vacuum control also allows for the printing of an image in one zone while setting up another image in the second, thereby increasing throughput and make-ready time.

Visitors to the show will be able to see the machine in action with the additional white ink option to complement the CMYK colour set. Utilising FUJIFILM Sericol Uvijet UV inks, the printer delivers supreme flexibility, particularly when using Uvijet white, allowing users to print a very opaque white under, over or between print layers. With greyscale dot technology, Acuity uses up to 25% less ink than competitor fixed drop printers.

The Acuity series differentiates itself from its competitors with exceptional quality printing onto a wide range of rigid and flexible substrates, including irregularly shaped or uneven surfaces. It also prints directly onto dark media with its white option.

Gary Wallace, managing director of Wallace Print Group, Strood, UK testifies to the quality and reliability of the Acuity Advance: “The Acuity produces near-litho quality and I was stunned the first time I saw what this machine can do. Even our customers, who have previously preferred screen printing, now favour the Acuity Advance. During high demand periods, we are happy to let the Acuity run continuously as we are a 24-hour shop. It is very easy to maintain with very little downtime, making it the ideal printer for us.”

Morgan concludes: “The Acuity’s price point makes it an attractive investment for sign, screen, digital and also offset printers who are not yet sure if they want to move into the UV digital flatbed printing arena. Visitors should take the opportunity to come and assess the print quality for themselves, and we look forward to welcoming them on the stand.”
