Tieto to maintain the data systems of Otava Books and Magazines
Thursday 07. May 2009 - Tieto will pick up the baton for the maintenance and development work of the mainframe processing service and mainframe-based systems of Otava Books and Magazines. The arrangement will be carried out as a transfer of business, in connection of which seven people in Helsinki and Seinäjoki will become Tieto employees.
In addition, the parties have agreed on Tieto delivering a new advertising management system to Otava Books and Magazines. Tieto and Otava Books and Magazines, the fourth largest graphic communications publisher in Finland, have cooperated since 1997.
Media is one of Tieto’s most important sectors, and the more extensive cooperation signifies the development of new business opportunities with media customers.
“The more extensive overall responsibility that Tieto now receives for the mainframe-based systems gives us additional resources for system maintenance and development as well as uninterrupted use of production. In cooperation with a strong expert in the information technology field, we will also be able to secure know-how and resources to meet future development needs,” says Maarit Laakkonen, Head of Information Administration of Otava Books and Magazines.
“Otava Books and Magazines is one of the industry’s leading companies in Finland and a significant media sector partner for Tieto. Shared development work will provide us and the customer with excellent opportunities to remain development leaders in the field. Through cooperation, we can enhance cost-effectiveness and focus on seizing new business opportunities,” says Ari Karppinen, Country Head of Tieto Finland.
