Omni-ID Awarded 2009 Asia Pacific Frost & Sullivan Technology Innovation Award for UHF RFID Tags

Wednesday 25. March 2009 - RFID Innovator Recognized for Industry-Leading Tags and Contribution to Furthering RFID Industry Worldwide

Omni-ID, a leading innovator in passive ultra high frequency (UHF) radio frequency identification (RFID) technology, today announces it has been awarded the 2009 Asia Pacific Frost & Sullivan Technology Innovation Award for UHF RFID Tags. The Frost & Sullivan Award for Technology Innovation is presented to the company that has demonstrated technological superiority within its industry. This Award recognizes Omni-ID’s commitment to successfully developing and introducing new technology, formulating a well-designed product family, and making significant product performance contributions to the RFID industry.
To determine the recipient of this Award, the Frost & Sullivan analyst team tracks emerging and existing technologies, as well as R&D developments. This is accomplished through interviews with major market participants and extensive secondary research. Elements such as product launches, customer acceptance, penetration rates, and time to market are also taken into consideration. Finally, competitors are compared and ranked for their relative position in the industry. After careful consideration in each of these areas, Frost & Sullivan has awarded Omni-ID with the top award and highest honors in the UHF RFID Tags industry. This award is further validation for Omni-ID’s approach to identifying with innovation and bringing to market the technology its customers, and the RFID industry as a whole, are calling for.
“What Omni-ID has to offer in the RFID industry is not only unique, but also certainly fills the void to keep track of objects or to be used in environments which have a high concentration of metal or liquid. With its innovative patented technology backed by a dedicated R&D team to address issues pertaining to poor read rates when in contact with or near proximity of metal or liquid, Omni-ID’s passive UHF RFID tags are an ideal choice for a myriad of applications that typically encounter performance related problems when using general RFID tags. Moreover, Omni-ID’s portfolio of tags are competitively priced, thus bringing about a tremendous value proposition that ensures the total cost of ownership for those seeking to deploy RFID in harsh environments remains feasible, even for larger scale projects,” said Richard Sebastian, Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst for Electronics & Security, RFID.
Omni-ID offers a line of tags that provide near-perfect readability rates on, off, or in the presence of metals and liquids. The Omni-ID product line includes three standard passive UHF RFID tags with a range of read distances and profiles, as well as a service bureau and a unique on site, on demand commissioning solution:
Omni-ID Tags:
Omni-ID Prox is Omni-ID’s smallest and most precise RFID tag, best suited for high value IT asset management and other specialist applications;
Omni-ID Flex offers a medium read range that effectively crosses over to a wide range of applications including tracking laptops and PCs; and
Omni-ID Max offers the longest read range and is most commonly used for tracking conveyances and outdoor assets.
Omni-ID Tag Option: Omni-ID OmniTether is an attachment solution utilizing a tether approach for application onto small assets or where real estate is at a premium.
Omni-ID Service Bureau offers end users and systems integrators a one-stop shop for RFID tags, label design and data programming.
Omni-ID On Demand offers customers the unique ability to print and commission mount-on-metal RFID tags on site to dramatically simplify RFID systems integration and is first available for the Omni-ID Prox.
“We take great pride in bringing innovative technology to the RFID industry and this award is validation that inspires us to keep pursuing our ultimate goal as a company: to identify with innovation and provide the RFID market with the solutions our customers need to solve business problems,” said Tom Pavela, president and CEO, Omni-ID. “This prestigious award supports our approach to be a customer-facing company that is making a significant contribution to the way RFID is applied around the world.”
