Thursday 19. March 2009 - HP today announced that Mir Reklamy, based in Moscow, Russia, has produced an eye-catching 6,000m2 frontlit billboard using its HP Scitex Grand Printers on behalf of its client, News Outdoor.

The inventive and striking billboard, advertising BMW’s M series, can be seen on Russia’s largest wall located on the Moskva River embankment next to the Kremlin in Moscow. The billboard displays life-size models of four popular BMW vehicles produced by a partner of News Outdoor. The billboard has been designed so that at night the cars’ headlights are lit creating the illusion that they are driving along the wall.

Mir Reklamy printed the billboard on a 520g/m2 frontlit banner material using four HP Scitex Grand Printers. In spite of the size of the application, Reklamy managed to produce the entire billboard in just five days, running its HP Scitex Grand Printers simultaneously to produce ten sections, which were fixed together using eyelets.

The HP Scitex Grand prints at speeds up to 65m2 per hour, offering users a non-stop production system for high reliability and maximum productivity, ideal for the production of billboards, wall coverings, truck-side curtains floor and window graphics, backdrops and vehicle wraps.

“For us, the high productivity, speed, ease of use and reliability of our HP Scitex Grand Printers play a vital role in ensuring that we can meet our customers’ deadlines,” said Andrey Bayduzhiy, general director, Mir Reklamy. “Using our HP Scitex Grands means that we can not only deliver our customers’ work to the marketplace quickly, but we can also exceed their expectations, printing at resolutions up to 370 dpi to create a range of attention-grabbing and innovative applications.”

“The billboard will be in place for nine months, and during that time will be exposed to a range of extreme temperatures and weather conditions, so it is vital that the ink adheres well to the substrate and provide long lasting performance,” said Bayduzhiy. “We use only original HP Scitex ink in our printers to replicate instantly recognisable corporate colours and ensure a durable finish on our outdoor applications.”

Mir Rekalmy was established in 1995 and started to specialise in sign and display printing in 1998. The company has grown to employ more than 230 people at its production facilities. Its customers include market-leading Russian advertising agencies and international advertising groups. It currently operates 11 HP wide to super-wide format machines, printing over 170,000m2 per month to fulfil its customers’ demands.
