With its SuperClamp option POLAR revolutionizes the quality of cutting

Without SuperClamp, the upper ream is pulled away

Tuesday 17. March 2009 - A beta version of this optional equipment was already presented at the 2008 drupa. SuperClamp is intended for the cutting of voluminous materials, such as in-mould labels, which can be compressed under load.

Both the customer feedback, as well as new quality requirements have resulted in a substantially optimized advancement. In the meantime, the first machine has been delivered to a customer in Belgium and more highspeed cutters equipped with the SuperClamp option have been ordered.

When voluminous material is being cut, the clamp compresses it. This results in the upper part of the ream being pulled away from the backgauge rake. Consequently, the material needs to be manually readjusted after every cut. In order to minimize this effect, the operator usually works with a low clamp opening. The SuperClamp option, however, allows full-surface clamping of the material and prevents it from being pulled off the rake. New paper qualities and growing customer demands call for a higher cutting accuracy. SuperClamp ensures a perfect cutting quality and allows to work with a much higher clamp opening. The productivity is increased by 100 % or more.

The high precision is often a crucial condition, for example when dealing with high-quality printed matter, complex labeling machines or packaging robots.

Full-surface clamping with SuperClamp improves the cutting output of all common printable materials. The “Cutting with SuperClamp” feature can be turned on or off as required. This option is available for POLAR 137 Autotrim high-speed cutters.

In June, the SuperClamp will be presented at the POLAR LabelDays in Hofheim.
