PraxisDialog no. 22 dealt with web offset press maintenance

Monday 09. March 2009 - It runs and runs and runs

Well maintained is half the battle: around 70 web offset experts attended the 22nd manroland PraxisDialog in Augsburg and learned all about groundbreaking maintenance models and remote preventive analyses.

Presses for newspaper and commercial printing have to be reliable in providing the highest performance. Day in and day out. At the same time, every enterprise must minimize the risk of failures and additional production costs in order to operate economically. As a result, a considerable part of a printing company’s costs are meanwhile not only the investment sum but subsequent expenditure for maintenance, servicing, and also upgrades. At the PraxisDialog held in Augsburg on 12 February, experts presented a variety of maintenance models. Besides software-supported maintenance with MAINSYS, other presentations included Single Minute Exchange of Die (SMED) for reducing makeready time, and Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM). After all, the objective of manroland and the company’s printservices portfolio is to safeguard the competitiveness of its customers over the entire life cycle of their printing systems.

MAINSYS for software-supported maintenance

Shop floor reports were given by COLORMAN and printservices user Henning Hamann from the Kieler Nachrichten, and Rainer Tietgen from the Broschek printing company in Lübeck, a LITHOMAN user. They spoke about their experiences with maintenance models and software solutions. The Kieler Nachrichten works with MAINSYS, manroland’s maintenance software. The Broschek company in Lübeck on the other hand relies on an internal solution with extensive documentation.

The exchange of views continues

The next PraxisDialog will take place in Offenbach on 12 March 2009 and is to focus on foodstuffs legislation-compliant printing.
