Monday 02. March 2009 - manroland has today announced the launch of its new, quality assured Used Machinery Division.

The division will be rolled out in association withexclusive manroland used machinery specialist Used Machinery Direct (UMD). Itwill work closely with manroland’s new press sales teams to significantlybroaden the market’s investment options and provide information and support forboth buyers and sellers of used machinery. The division will be led by UMD’sused machinery expert, Mark Stribley.

Visitors to www.manroland.co.uk/UMD will be able to download PDFs containingtips for sellers and buyers as well as detailed information on factors thataffect used machinery valuations. By completing the online valuation form, manroland press owners will also be able to receive a free, no obligationvaluation of their current press within 24 hours. manroland engineers are alsoavailable to examine presses and provide detailed valuation breakdowns onrequest.

Says Mark Stribley: “The new division is as much about providing support tothose with capital equipment to sell as it is about finding the right used press for those ready to invest. Selling capital equipment is a fundamental part of the print business and printers will take great peace of mind from the security of dealing with the original manufacturer rather than a third party. With access to a comprehensive service history of every single manroland press in the UK, manroland and UMD are uniquely placed when it comes to accurately assessing the condition and value of its used presses.”

Says Gary Doman, Sheetfed Sales Director: “The market will benefit hugely from the greater diversity of investment options this new division brings about. More printers than ever before will have the opportunity to own a manroland press and enjoy access to its expertise and unrivalled user support. It’s the perfect resource for any business looking to take its first steps into manroland ownership or any who wish to expand capacity, even though they may not be at the wholesale upgrade stage of their investment cycle. Each investment will be project managed in a similar fashion to new press installs and, of course, customers of our Used Machinery Division will have the same access to factory trained engineers, training, service and support as owners of new presses.”

All presses stocked by manroland’s Used Machinery Division have been print tested and serviced thoroughly by manroland engineers and the company’s printservices division has also developed a specific range of before- and after-sales service and support packages. These can be tailored to individual businesses and services include on press demonstrations and training, remote diagnosis and support, free of charge technical support and even project management of turn-key solutions.

Says Peter Redmond, Service Director, manroland GB: “With manroland, the sale of any piece of equipment does not end at the choice of machinery and the cost of the product. Just as with new machines, we will provide used machinery customers with a site survey and installation advice, using tools such as CAD drawings to detail the installation site and, post-installation, manroland is ideally positioned to provide advice and services to printers that will maximise the life time value of their press.”
