Fast mixing of powders without damaging agglomerates
Thursday 05. March 2009 - The Processing Centre of NIZO food research has in collaboration with Lindor Products BV, acquired a powder mixer/blender that requires short mixing times while keeping agglomerates intact. With this Lindor mixer, NIZO extends its test production services for infant foods and other powder productions that need careful blending.
NIZO food research owns the largest food-grade commercial pilot plant in Europe. This Food Factory can be used for process development, application testing, test productions and tolling of high value ingredients, ranging from all dairy products to sauces, beverages, and powders. It helps industry to have flexible processing facilities for temporary production capacity and to keep test productions out of their own plant. Together with its research facilities NIZO also assists its customers with cost reduction through process optimization.
NIZO continuously improves its offer and recently a Lindor mixer has been added to the long list of facilities. For infant foods and other powder production often spray dried powders have to be blended with minor components. During blending carefully produced agglomerates should not be damaged. The powder mixer/blender keeps agglomerates intact because of the short mixing time needed (<3 min). The mixer, supplied by Lindor Products BV, has a working volume of 750 L. In combination with the available spray drying facilities, NIZO extends its offer for outsourcing the production of test batches, and help to keep test productions out of the customers' own plant.
