Food – safely packaged for consumers
Wednesday 04. March 2009 - Multivac at Anuga Foodtec in Hall 6.1, Stand O 039
Multivac, worldwide market leader for thermoformers and single source supplier of packaging solutions for food and non-food products, will present several new developments at the next Anuga FoodTec trade show. In Hall 6.1 at Stand O 039, Multivac will demonstrate its expertise as a single source supplier of packaging solutions for all aspects of packaging lines. The company will emphasize its expertise in the area of rigorous implementation of hygienic design, which Multivac uses in all of its new generation machines, currently the only company on the market to do so.
The new hygienic design is completely based on the simplification of the cleaning process in packaging machines and for complete packaging lines. Therefore, the new generation of thermoformers has an open chain design and open chain guide profile. This new, patented development enables this area of the machine to be cleaned easily without dismantling the chain.
The new concept also includes an optional Cleaning in Place (CIP) system for the R 535 and R 245 thermoformers. This cleaning system for the machine interior cleans in place automatically and with reproducible results. This absolutely new innovation can significantly increase machine run times for food packaging equipment. In 2008, the new generation of thermoformers was distinguished with the IF Packaging Award and the German Packaging Award of the German Packaging Institute (DVI).
The new T 700 Traysealer is characterized by its rigorously hygienic design, which is most likely unique on the market. This model will be launched at the beginning of 2009 and will be presented at the Anuga FoodTec trade show. All components and parts are constructed based on hygienic factors. The number of cables and hoses inside the machine is reduced to a minimum. In places where they could not be avoided, they are routed through frames or are separated by spacers. Dead spaces and gaps were also consistently avoided, even for bearings, rollers and internal components. In this way, because the attached parts are mostly placed with clearance between them and surfaces are inclined whenever possible, fluids can easily run off, making complete cleaning simple.
Furthermore, the new T 700 Traysealer is characterized by its maximum flexibility and its easy, safe operation which is guaranteed by the intuitive machine control.
The T 700 unites high performance – it outputs 24 to 42 MAP packages per minute for standard trays – with outstanding quality and safety standards.
Conserving resources and energy efficiency
Operator comfort and hygiene are also the highest priority for the new B 310 conveyor belt machine. This is the first conveyor belt machine with a tilting lid. This simplifies and speeds up the processes for cleaning the inside of the lid and exchanging the exchangeable bars for sealing height adjustment. With an output of more than three cycles per minute, the B 310 is among the fastest machines in its class.
Complete packaging line for chocolate bars
The single source solution presented at Anuga Foodtec 2009 for packaging with thermoformers includes the R 245 Thermoformer, robots for loading and unloading, labeling systems and visual systems for monitoring quality to identify the correct positioning of the product and the proper label. When errors are recognized, the corresponding packages are automatically discharged.
Due to their design, the new H 100 and H 130 loading and unloading modules by Multivac can be customized for a wide variety of applications. For the packaging line shown at Anuga FoodTec, the H 100 two axis handling module for identifying various chocolate bars and discharging improper packages will be used. The H 130 four axis robot takes the chocolate bars from the conveyor belt and places them in the pockets provided by the thermoformer. This packaging line demonstrates a fully integrated system in which all of the elements are made by Multivac.
