Print Optimizing Snap-in for the Microsoft Management Console

The print management solution ThinPrint .print improves printing processes in environments with the newest Microsoft operating system

Tuesday 03. March 2009 - ThinPrint's new Feature Release 1 lets you conveniently configure the Printer Virtualization Layer (V-Layer)

ThinPrint’s .print Server Engine with the .print Printer Virtualization Layer allows you to print with drivers, which are only installed on the central print server. The release of the .print Server Engine 7.6 Feature Release 1 now allows you to set up these printers directly in the Microsoft Management Console with a convenient snap-in.

Many companies want to centralize their printer management on one print server and also install and manage printer drivers at this one location. This can be achieved – for some time now – with the Printer Virtualization Layer from ThinPrint. The printer drivers are installed and managed on the central print server exclusively, and a ThinPrint Output Gateway (Driver Free Printing) necessary for the process to function is automatically connected by the system with the Feature Release 1. ThinPrint now offers the Feature Release 1 for simplifying printer setup and administration. Instead of requiring the individual printers to be entered in the command line or script-guided as before, a convenient snap-in allows you to perform the configuration directly in the Microsoft Management Console.

“The FR 1 makes the work substantially easier for our customers with a large printer landscape, another important feature for simplifying the system administration,” says Charlotte Kunzell, Senior Vice President at ThinPrint.

The Feature Release 1 feature is available free for .print customers with a valid Update Subscription, and included in the price for new customers. Technical requirements are a central print server with Windows Server 2003 SP 1 and MMC 3.0, Windows Server 2003 SP 2 or Windows Server 2008.
