Naturally Iowa Teams Up With GreenGuard Associates
Monday 16. February 2009 - Naturally Iowa, Inc. (Other OTC:NLIA.PK - News), a leading manufacturer and distributor of value-added bottled spring water and dairy products, announced that it has teamed up with GreenGuard Associates, Inc., an innovative designer of advanced technology industrial composting systems. As part of the exclusive agreement, Naturally Iowa's products, packaged in the revolutionary INGEO compostable bottle, will be offered to food service and institutional customers together with GreenGuard's ORCA Green composting system.
The combination of the INGEO bottles with the ORCA Green machine composting unit creates a “Closed Loop” environment whereby used bottles are composted and returned to nature.
“Teaming up with GreenGuard Associates helps to fulfill my dream of building a true environmental solution for the ‘end of life’ issues associated with used water and dairy bottles,” said Bill Horner, native Iowa farmer, agricultural entrepreneur and CEO & founder of Naturally Iowa. “We built Naturally Iowa from the beginning incorporating the environmental benefits of the compostable INGEO bottle from NatureWorks LLC. The INGEO bottle is made from U.S. corn, not foreign oil, and requires significantly less energy to produce. This bottle is used for all of our Naturally Iowa’s beverages, including spring water, fluid milk and drinkable yogurt. With the ORCA Green composting system, we now have a complete environmental solution for customers.”
The ORCA Green system provides compact, economical solutions for food service, institutional and retail users. The composting unit is relatively small, fits well in limited-space locations and can rapidly compost up to 2,000 lb. of INGEO bottles, food waste and organic material simultaneously.
“The innovative technology of our ORCA Green system reduces waste and recycling costs for customers, and it speeds up the time needed for composting,” said Bob Humberstone, sales director for GreenGuard Associates. “The ORCA Green system also lowers trash hauling and related energy costs. Additionally, the system cuts landfill waste and reduces carbon footprint. ORCA Green, in partnership with Naturally Iowa’s compostable bottles, is an excellent way for customers to manage costs and reduce waste, while demonstrating a strong commitment to environmental stewardship.”
Naturally Iowa and GreenGuard Associates are offering the combined benefits of Naturally Iowa’s environmental products and the ORCA Green composting system to food service and institutional customers nation-wide. The ORCA Green system is easily installed in a compact space adjacent to food service and institutional outlets. Naturally Iowa used bottles are put into the composter with food waste and other organic material. This mixture breaks down quickly and completely. Previously, Naturally Iowa’s Green Bottle Spring Water gained distribution in the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Washington, DC headquarters, and the company was selected as a “BioPreferred” supplier to the U.S. Government. Green Bottle Spring Water was also chosen as the exclusive bottled water for all of the food service venues of the U.S. House of Representatives as part of its “Green Capital Initiative.”
