Rohm and Haas Named “Best Innovation Contributor” by Henkel Corporation’s Laundry and Home Care Business

Wednesday 11. February 2009 - Rohm and Haas Company (NYSE:ROH) has been named "Best Innovation Contributor - 2008" by Henkel’s Laundry and Home Care business.

The award was made by Thomas Müller-Kirschbaum, Corporate Senior Vice President for R&D, Technology and Supply Chain within Henkel’s Laundry & Home Care business sector. The award was given for breakthrough technology for automatic dishwashing detergents.

Rohm and Haas developed a new, super-efficient dispersant based on polyacrylic technology that allowed Henkel to reformulate its automatic dishwashing detergents and offer new features for its products. Ian Burke, Global Business Manager for Rohm and Haas’s Primary Materials business, says, “It is quite gratifying to be engaged with a valued partner like Henkel. Our relationships with our counterparts within the Laundry and Home Care division are exceptional.” Burke notes that Rohm and Haas strives for this kind of partnership with key customers around the globe. “This is how we can be successful together, even during a down economy,” he says.

In making the presentation, Müller-Kirschbaum explained that this kind of innovation and collaboration is crucial in today’s economic environment and the key to industry success. “This innovative chemistry contributes to assuring Henkel’s leading position in premium automatic dishwashing detergents, now and in the future.”

The global automatic dishwashing detergent is estimated to generate approximately $3 billion in sales a year, according to Euromonitor International.
