ROUND2 Inc. Acquires PolymerCycle LLC, Creates Sales Channel for Recycled Plastics

Friday 06. February 2009 - ACQUISITION CREATES A SOLUTION FOR PROBLEMATIC EWASTE RECYCLING BYPRODUCT.

ROUND2 Inc. today announced the acquisition of PolymerCycle LLC, a national processor and reseller of plastics, including ABS, PC/ABS, HIPS and PC. The acquisition complements ROUND2’s strategy to deliver a closed-loop recycling solution for processing eWaste. Effective immediately, PolymerCycle will operate as a wholly-owned company from ROUND2’s 183,000 square foot facility in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, the largest electronics recycling facility in the State of Texas.

Ian Bagnall, ROUND2’s Chief Executive Officer, said, “Historically the plastic byproducts from electronics recycling have created unanswered questions for electronic recyclers. ROUND2 is now able to remove one more barrier to delivering an economical recycling solution to Fortune 1000 companies that is environmentally responsible. Our complete solution is a single point of disposition and reuse for several types of plastics.”

PolymerCycle (www.polymercycle.com) was founded to provide a highly usable reprocessed plastic product derived from computer monitors, printers, and consumer electronics. PolymerCycle identifies, sorts and granulates plastics for reuse in the manufacturing of new products.

EPA research indicates a paltry 18% of the 2.25M tons of eWaste in the US was recycled in 2007. With an EPA estimated 140M TVs and computer monitors in storage, there is an impending avalanche of plastic byproduct waiting to be recovered. ROUND2 is positioned to assist Fortune 1000 clients and municipalities properly manage this staggering flow of material.

Ron Sherga, PolymerCycle VP of Sales said, “PolymerCycle captures high quality, high volume polymer materials from end-of-life electronics processing. Our process adds value to the plastic life cycle by introducing market competitive materials that challenge virgin resin. We serve an innovative market segment that seeks clean, raw material feedstock with a recycled history.” Sherga continued, “PolymerCycle’s customers create new products that we touch and use in our everyday lives. Moreover, manufacturers create these products in a socially and environmentally responsible manner.”
