Co-op extends use of Thor Pot to fresh pasta sauces

Following the successful relaunch of its chilled fresh soups in the Thor Pot, The Co-operative group has extended the use of the format to its chilled fresh pasta sauces.

Friday 30. January 2009 - Following the successful relaunch of its chilled fresh soups in the Thor Pot, The Co-operative group has extended the use of the format to its chilled fresh pasta sauces.

Like the soups, the sauces are manufactured for the Co-op by Pasta Reale Ltd. The recent relaunch of the range offers improved recipes with reduced fat and salt, and the Co-op wanted to promote this through a refreshing of the sauces’ packaging and labelling.

Three key factors were instrumental in the choice of the Thor Pot: consistency of branding between the soup and sauce ranges, the quality of service and supply from RPC Blackburn, and the greater flexibility afforded by post-mould labelling compared to the previous decoration method of in-mould labelling. “The successful use of post-mould labels on the soup range has confirmed real benefits in terms of reducing inventory and avoiding the risk of packaging write-off,” explains Nick Bertenshaw Senior National Account Manager for Co-operative at Pasta Reale. “In addition, it enables The Co-op to implement in-store promotions quickly and effectively.”

“Having already seen the advantages of the Thor Pot, we are delighted that its use has been extended to the Co-op’s chilled fresh pasta sauce range,” adds Sarah Lewis, Product Manager, Chilled Ready Meals for the Co-operative.
