Markus Schmedtmann joins Executive Board of arvato AG
Tuesday 20. January 2009 - Markus Schmedtmann (38), Chairman of the Executive Board of the Mohn media Group (Gütersloh), has been appointed to the Executive Board of arvato AG retroactively to January 1, 2009 (Gütersloh).
As a member of the arvato Executive Board, Schmedtmann will be responsible for arvatos German and eastern European printing activities (arvato print CEE). Rolf Buch, Chairman of the Executive Board of arvato AG, will remain in charge of arvatos other foreign printing activities.
“With Markus Schmedtmann, the arvato Executive Board gains an in-house manager whose impressive track record in arvatos services and, more recently, printing business testifies to his extensive know-how and excellent social skills,” said Rolf Buch, Chairman of the Executive Board of arvato AG.
Markus Schmedtmann joined Bertelsmann in 1991, when he became a consultant and key account manager at AZ Direct. In 1994, he moved to Bertelsmann Marketing Service GmbH where he became Head of Sales Lettershop, initially focusing on the development of new services and key accounts. Three years later, he was appointed Head of the Department of Customer Loyalty Management at Bertelsmann Marketing Services GmbH and in 1999 joined the Executive Board of arvato direct services. In 2002, Schmedtmann became Managing Director of arvato direct services in charge of customer loyalty management and print- and lettershop. He subsequently oversaw the highly successful expansion of these business segments before being appointed Chairman of the Executive Board for Marketing Services (Customer Relationship Mangement, Lettershop, Servicecenter) in 2007. In June 2008, he was asked to join the top management of the Mohn media Group.
As of January 1, 2009, the Executive Board of arvato AG is made up of Rolf Buch (Chairman, arvato systems, arvato services International and arvato print International), Eckhard Südmersen (arvato services CEE), Dr. Hans-Peter Hülskötter (arvato digital services), Günter Wilmsmeier (Finance) and Markus Schmedtmann (arvato print CEE).
