Rohm and Haas Hosts Workshop on Sustainability and Innovation in Brussels

Wednesday 07. January 2009 - Rohm and Haas Company with the sponsorship of members of the European Parliament is organising a workshop on sustainability and innovation as part of its commitment to sustainability.

The workshop is being held at the European Parliament in Brussels, Belgium on January 8, 2009 where leaders from industry as well as representatives from the European Commission, the European Parliament, Member States, NGOs and academia will gather to debate and exchange views on this crucial topic.

The interactive workshop comprises three sessions:

Sustainability as a catalyst for innovation
Drivers and Barriers for Green Procurement
Sustainable Consumption and Production
Guest speakers will share the visions and actions for sustainability in their part of the value chain and illustrate the role their organisations will play in driving sustainable development.

Gray Wirth, President of Rohm and Haas Company’s Europe, Middle East and Africa Region and Member of Cefic?s Research & Innovation Programme Council, will talk about the critical role chemistry plays in achieving a sustainable society through continued product innovation. “We are honoured to welcome our customers and industry partners to this timely workshop,” Wirth said.

The workshop will demonstrate the need for legislation which reflects all aspects of the production and consumption life cycle, and works for enhanced partnership among the different stakeholders involved in a value chain.

“We are hopeful that this meeting, and others of its kind will come up with tangible, actionable strategies that will bring sustainable development to reality,” Wirth commented.
