UHC and Safecor Health Announce Multi-Year Agreement for Repackaging Bar-Coded Medications

Wednesday 03. December 2008 - To support medication-safety initiatives, University HealthSystem Consortium (UHC) and Safecor Health, LLC, announced today that UHC has awarded Safecor Health a 3-year agreement for bar-coded pharmaceutical repackaging services. The contract is effective November 1, 2008.

Under the agreement terms, Safecor Health will provide UHC members a comprehensive menu of unit-dose, bar-coded repackaging services geared toward each hospital’s unique dosing needs and bar-code requirements, including oral solids, liquid cups, oral syringes, and powders.

Bar-coded pharmaceuticals in ready-to-administer doses are an essential component of effective medication-safety protocols, enabling bar-code scanning of medications at the patient bedside.
