IPA Announces First CMP Specialty Course: Photography
Thursday 20. November 2008 - IPA Releases CMP Photography course - the first of seven specialty color management courses in its comprehensive certification program.
IPA, The Association of Graphic Solutions Providers has released the Color Management Professional Photography course, the first of seven specialty courses in IPAs comprehensive CMP Program. This course is designed to teach graphics professionals and photographers how to properly color manage digital media through a photographic imaging workflow.
The photography course is comprised of six video lessons of approximately three hours in length. The program describes the fundamental principles of color management for photography for those familiar with basic color theory and print production processes. The course examines the importance of profiling and explains how to create accurate monitor and digital camera color profiles. Students will learn how to define proper color managed workflows through Adobe Photoshop and InDesign applications especially within the context of the G7, GRACoL and SWOP specifications. Detailed training is also provided on how to achieve accurate “guide prints” (proofs for photographers.)
Feedback from those completing the initial CMP Fundamentals course has been excellent.
“I found the course very impressive. I took a week long course at X-Rite a year or so ago, and earned certification through Apple as a color management professional in Mac OS X, so I was pretty confident I would breeze right through it. Yet I found myself really challenged with new knowledge quite a few times. It was a great program with a ton of useful information! I look forward to signing up for more CMP specialty modules as they become available.” Jesse Volner, Digital Output Specialist, Large Format Output
