Ex Libris Announces New Worldwide Voyager Sales

Wednesday 19. November 2008 - Ease-of-use and a newly designed Web OPAC are just two of the product features that continue to attract institutions to join the more than 1,300 existing Voyager customers

Ex Libris Group is pleased to announce that several institutions have recently selected the Voyager integrated library solution (ILS). Some of the most recent additions to the Voyager customer community are New York Medical College; Judson College, Alabama; Unitec New Zealand; and the American Embassy in India.

The full-featured Voyager software supports public access cataloging control and authority as well as acquisitions, serials, circulation and course reserves. Sophisticated reporting and system administration are all part of the out-of-the-box product offering. Standards-based, and built on open technology, Voyager interoperates smoothly with existing library systems and new technologies, ensuring that it continues to meet the ever-evolving needs of contemporary libraries.

Voyager 7.0, released in June 2008, focuses on ease of use and increased functionality for library staff and users. Among the highlights of this version are the newly designed WebVoy?ge OPAC with a modern, user-friendly layout and intuitive search interface; a wide range of accessibility and usability enhancements; and more than 40 new administrative features, including greater flexibility for library staff in customizing search and navigation functions to the needs of their institution.

“Voyager has significantly streamlined many of our library processes, such as updating and editing serials and acquisitions data, helping us to become more efficient,” Dr. Sara B. Kiser, vice president and academic dean at Judson College, commented. “Voyager has an extremely strong reputation among academic libraries, and we were very impressed by its capabilities during the selection process. The fact that Ex Libris offers a hosted Voyager environment made this the right solution for us.”

“We were impressed by the ongoing commitment to upgrade and enhance Voyager,” remarked Peter Hughes, library director of Unitec New Zealand. “Thanks to the efficient and responsive support of the Ex Libris project manager in Australia, our implementation of Voyager has been extremely quick and successful.”

The American Embassy in India, which has four libraries located in Kolkata, Chennai, Mumbai, and New Delhi, chose to replace its former ILS with Voyager to achieve a more robust platform for cataloging activities.

“The distinguished institutions that have recently chosen Voyager to serve as their integrated library system reflect well the breadth of the Voyager customer base, which comprises libraries of all types and sizes worldwide,” remarked Matti Shem Tov, president and CEO of Ex Libris. “Building on Voyager’s recognized strengths, the Ex Libris product management team is already collaborating closely with the Voyager user community to integrate customer enhancement requests in versions 8, 9, and beyond.”
