Wesabe and Telegraph Media Group Partner to Provide UK Readers With Personal Finance Management Tool
Wednesday 12. November 2008 - Co-Branded Version of Wesabe's Money Management Site Launches on Telegraph.co.uk
Social personal finance website Wesabe and Telegraph Media Group, publisher of the UK’s biggest selling quality daily newspaper The Daily Telegraph, The Sunday Telegraph and Telegraph.co.uk (TCUK), announced a partnership to bring free money management tools to the Telegraph’s readers. A co-branded version of Wesabe’s site launches today on TCUK. One of the UK’s fastest growing quality newspaper websites, the most recently audited figures show that Telegraph.co.uk had 22.9 million unique visitors in September 2008.
Wesabe’s free, online financial management tool lets members see all their bank and credit card balances and transactions in one place, as well as ways to save money and track financial goals.
While Wesabe supports members in more than 30 countries, this partnership represents the first major international expansion move by any company in the online personal finance space. Wesabe accounts can be set up in any world currency, and the site allows members to view accounts and balances in different currencies.
“Money stress is a phenomenon that knows no borders. In looking for ways to take Wesabe global and start helping more people worldwide take better control of their finances, we really couldn’t ask for a better partner than Telegraph Media Group,” said Marc Hedlund, CEO of Wesabe. “With the Telegraph’s massive global reach and reputation for online innovation, we’re poised for significant growth.”
“The fact that Wesabe built our own technology platform, rather than relying on a third-party vendor to collect bank data, gives us the flexibility and freedom to deliver secure, co-branded sites such as the Telegraph Personal Finance Planner,” continued Hedlund. “We’ve got some really exciting developments planned for the site over the next few months, and are looking forward to bringing more features to our international members.”
“The Telegraph Personal Finance Planner, powered by Wesabe, adds personalization and relevance to our Finance channel on TCUK. Readers can now get an up-to-date view of their individual finances and have a place to track the progress of their financial goals,” said Paul Cheesbrough, Chief Information Officer for Telegraph Media Group. “After watching Wesabe’s success in the U.S., we felt the services they offer could be of real value to our readers.”
