CD-ROM for XtraWin model calculations: Release 2 with several improvements
Tuesday 28. October 2008 - Publishers and newspaper printers have been making successful use of the XtraWin business model for the creation of semi-commercial products. Since Drupa 2008, a CD-ROM for the conception of new publishing products has offered support with related investment decisions. IFRA Expo 2008 will see the launch of a second version of the software, incorporating key im-provements.
Putting capacity to better use
XtraWin supports the idea of making the production of semi-commercials a fixed part of the corporate strategy in addition to newspapers and achiev-ing the maximum possible capacity utilization.
The Ferag postpress processing system comes with the possibility of easy integration of additional functions like stitching, trimming and gathering, and thus provides the basis for bringing improved utilization forward, all the way to the press.
Investment security
The technical basis of XtraWin is the Ferag postpress processing system. Its modular concept is open to expansion and can grow in response to demands from the marketplace. Starting with the basis configuration of conveyor system and bundling, it is easy to integrate components into the line layout for saddle-stitching, three-side trimming, or the application modules for the MemoStick and MemoFlag advertising models. The installation is freely configurable within a broad context, and will adapt pre-cisely to any set of requirements.
Release 2 of the interactive CD-ROM
Since Drupa 2008, a CD-ROM has been available that, on the basis of a virtual print product, allows simulation of the required XtraWin configuration incorporating the corresponding Ferag components and then, in just a few steps, calculation of the return on investment. The statements deduced from the model calculations offer effective support with upcoming invest-ment decisions.
Release 2 of this tool will be available from IFRA Expo 2008 in Amster-dam. The new version incorporates improvements that have been sug-gested by customers. Greater freedoms when defining projects and publi-cations are of special note, in addition to the reworked operator interface. Accordingly, it is now possible to open and name any number of projects, and create several new publications under each project name. As a new feature, the program runs with a database structure in the background that serves as a container for all data entered by the user. A search function can be used to find text, project names and publications. In addition to Windows XP and Windows Vista, XtraWin software now runs on the Mac OS X operating system.
You can obtain the XtraWin CD-ROM free of charge directly from WRH Marketing AG in Hinwil (Switzerland), or from a WRH subsidiary in your country.
