Printroom CEO to Join Expert Panel on Technology Impact at Annual Meeting of National Association of Investment Companies
Tuesday 21. October 2008 - Printroom, Inc., a leading developer and provider of ecommerce solutions for pro photographers and the world's leading brands, today announced that its CEO Carlton Osborne has been invited to join a panel that will address institutional investors, investment firms and entrepreneurs at the NAIC 38th Annual Meeting and Convention, October 19-21, at the Hyatt Regency Resort & Spa at Gainey Ranch in Scottsdale, Arizona.
The panel, entitled Technology Impact, will feature discussion amongst a select panel of successful entrepreneurs including Mr. Osborne who will provide attendees with insight as to how technology has impacted existing industries such as photography, wine and music.
“New technologies can create a discontinuity between the way things have always been done in an industry and the way they will be done,” said Printroom CEO Carlton Osborne. “Companies such as Printroom have taken advantage of this gap.”
“New technologies can shock established industries, delineating sharp divisions between old ways and new approaches,” said Printroom CEO Carlton Osborne. “For example the photography business remained essentially unchanged for 150 years, with costly equipment and specialized training serving as a high barrier between lay users and pros. The advent of the Internet and digital cameras created the possibility for tearing down that dividing line. Companies like Printroom have seized on that potentiality, leveraging technology to create whole new markets and successful businesses from what had been a fairly static industry.”
Printroom has attracted more than 22,000 professional photographers to its membership-based, online service. At the same time, the company has become the leading fan photography service provider in the United States. It provides top sports and entertainment businesses such as MLB, NFL, NHL, NBA and others with complete solutions that handle all the details of online sales while increasing revenue, boosting awareness and enhancing fan loyalty.
The Technology Impact session is scheduled for Tuesday, October 21 at 10:30AM.
